Power Thoughts: Step Into Your God-Given Authority!

If you could go back in time and tell your younger self one thing, what you would say to yourself? If you could go and visit your future self, what message would you give yourself?

All too often, we give our power away. Do you find yourself giving your power away to self-doubt, self-blame, self-guilt or seeking outside approval from other people? For years, I have allowed self-doubt, self-blame, and insecurities to rob me of my joy and my dreams. I doubted myself and my abilities to do everything.

However, there was no one challenging me except for me. I noticed that my attention was wholly taken up by negative projections, i.e., other people’s false beliefs and believing the lies of the enemy; therefore, I had to come up with a way to bring focus, peace, and clarity into my day. It is time to take control of your life, for if you do not, someone or circumstances will rule over you. God has given us the authority that shuts out, shuts down and shuts up the enemy and his lies. Luke 10: 19 (NIV) says, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.”

Are you spending your mornings with God?

Our mornings are the gateway to a new day, and we should honor it by giving God praise, thankfulness, and worship. There are many different phases in our lives, where we find ourselves needing a sense of direction, clarity, understanding, and purpose, but somehow some of us are still asking God that seemly fundamental question: “What is my purpose in life?” Well, I have come to realize that it’s best to continue to seek God for the answer rather than create a self-fulfilling prophecy for yourself and then try to fit God in. It is your goal that you created, and it is backwards to ask Him to bless it after the fact. In other words, you can’t limit God and put Him in a shoe box. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts so limiting Him defies what He can do.

When I realized this, at that very moment, He stepped in and took over. I’m so thankful for God’s purpose and plan for my life! I believe this is just the beginning, as I press forward on my journey toward my destiny. I don’t know how many talents I have, there are many and I will use each one to maximize my potential dreams. The key: you must “believe” He can do it for you! I will live absolutely without limits. Just remember, “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny!” Jeremiah 29:11 says, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Are you ready to discover your destiny…the one that will give you that fulfillment, direction, purpose, mission, legacy, and allow you to live a life you love?

For me, if I could go back in time and tell my younger self-anything at all, it would be to, “Stay focused because no matter what you see, no matter what people may say about you, no matter what distractions may show up along the way, no matter what demon from hell shows up, no matter how hard life gets, no matter who tries to persecute you, and try to drive you away from the things of God. Just remember, when persecution comes to blind you, “My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defense; I shall not be moved.” You will dwell in the secret place and hidden in the most highest God. God is calling you to stand in your God-given position and authority and live in authenticity. So, don’t let a little distraction or discouragement take you off your game. You have to look to the hills to where your help cometh from; ”I will lift up my eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121 (KJV) You will make it!”

Additionally, if I could go and visit my future self, what message would I bring? No matter what the circumstances may look like right now believe that God will turn all things around for your good (Romans 8:28). I would remind myself that God knew me before I was formed in my mother’s womb and that He has already written every chapter of my life. Therefore, whether I take a wrong turn, or encounter countless amounts of mountains that prevent me from climbing, I will eventually make it!

And guess what my friend?! You will make it too! So, what are you waiting for ladies and gentlemen? It’s your time to step into your God-given AUTHORITY! Take back what the enemy has stolen from you, and while you’re at it, take back the possessions he stolen from your ancestors too!
