We Can Overcome
Have you ever woken up, mind distorted, and crazy thoughts rushing through your mind like a sandstorm blanket trying to shape your reality? For some of us, our thoughts are so intense that the pain on the inside is so strong and deep that even anger can no longer be explained. Lives are turned upside down with loss after loss, living in a messed up world. At this moment, I am writing this blog, and bad news has hit the world: at least 21 killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary, a Texas elementary school. My heart and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
How in the hell did we allow ourselves to get to this point?
Life will never be a bed of roses, and that’s why it’s important for us to choose supportive friends and learn from others who have been through the struggle. You were never meant to carry things alone. However, one vital thing you should keep in mind is that you can start your day or even your night with something that is guaranteed to cover you and your family throughout not only the physical realm but the spiritual realm… That vital thing is worship! Sometimes we don’t understand why we go through the pain, hurt, or processes that we endure. We struggle to understand why our hearts have to bleed with pain. Over time, I have learned that I’d rather be broken, and on my knees in the presence of God in that secret space, than be torn and lost where no one can reach me spiritually and emotionally.
We can break the forces to overcome adversity in our lives. For a time, I was extremely upset about a CEO position I was promised but didn’t receive because of the color of my skin. I was to take over and at the last minute our clients were sent an email blast that all new orders and employees were transferred to another company. No, there was no buy-out, and I decided to leave the company. In less than two months, most of our clients went elsewhere for service. I am a living testament that God will fight your battles for you. “For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.” Deuteronomy 3:22 ESV. When the battles of life close in around you and you feel surrounded, where do you turn? Let these 10 Bible verses about fighting battles be your strength and support. Remember, God is by your side, surrounding you and fighting for you.
